There are many myths and prejudices about Hypnosis. Perhaps due to the so-called Stage Hypnosis shown in films, cartoons and novels in a totally wrong way, passing a negative image to this effective methodology.

The vast majority are made without any knowledge of what it is, how it works and what it is for. Let's clarify.

HIPNOSE

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?

Hypnosis is a natural state of consciousness different from the waking state, similar to sleep, being a temporary state of modified attention.

Hypnosis is simply a method of communication, that induces a trance or a trance-like state. In fact, it is nothing strange that human beings have never experienced. We all go in and out of a trance state many times a day without even realizing it!

When a person is hypnotized, it is possible to communicate directly with his unconscious mind, which does not criticize or reason in the same way as the conscious mind.

This hypnotic state is characterized by a noticeable increase in creativity, receptivity to suggestion, as well as the ability to modify perception and memory. In addition, it is also characterized by the potential for controlling a variety of physiological functions, that are usually involuntary.

HOW DOES A HYPNOSIS SESSION WORK?

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic process in which the professional therapist uses hypnosis as a means of direct communication with the client's subconscious mind.

The state of hypnotic trance, achieved during the sessions, allows the client to break limiting patterns and change some beliefs, thus achieving changes in his behavior.

It is a completely natural and safe process and can be an efficient option in several situations.

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS FOR?

Hypnosis is indicated for the treatment of depression, anxieties, phobias, panic syndrome, post-traumatic stress, tics, obesity, smoking, learning difficulties, sleep disorders, low self-esteem, compulsions, stuttering, among others.

It can also be applied to support the treatment of cancer and AIDS; to painful processes, especially chronic pain; in cardiology in the control of hypertension and other heart diseases; in gynecology, obstetrics and painless childbirth, as prenatal care; in the preparation of patients with surgical indication, both in the emotional aspect and in enhancing recovery; in dentistry, as a support in the treatment of people with phobias, trauma and as an option to anesthesia.

Contraindications

It is not possible to use hypnotherapy in cases of schizophrenia, epilepsy, psychosis and senility.

It also helps healthy people who want to change the way they act, in order to improve:

  • their social, professional or relational performances;

  • an athlete's overall performance;

  • the provision of candidates submitted to tests and competitions;

  • and many other applications.

Its use has expanded to an increasing number of professionals and specialties, where advances in knowledge increase the safety and efficiency of its application, as a therapeutic form of support, within a modern philosophy of multidisciplinary treatment.

Watch your thoughts, they become your words;
